User Rules and Regulations and reprographic orders
Access to the holdings and collections are regulated by the User Rules and Regulations. Most of the documents are freely accessible. There may be some restrictions on use due to privacy or data protection issues, or in the case of items requiring special conservation. Users should show the necessary care when looking at the documents and are requested to follow the instructions of the Reading Room staff.
Taking your own photographs and making reproductions
Many of the holdings are available digitally. Other documents may only be photographed in the Reading Room for your private documentation or for research purposes. The Burgerbibliothek of Berne will be happy to reproduce individual pages or have a complete manuscript digitised on your behalf.
What services can be purchased
The Burgerbibliothek of Berne will be happy to reproduce individual pages or have a complete manuscript digitised on your behalf. The brochure „Service Offer and Prices for Reproductions and Guided Tours“ applies to our standard offer. Any extra efforts like the creation of scans with a resolution exceeding 300 dpi (and others) lead to extra costs. It is with pleasure that we will submit an offer to you. In general the price for one page will double.
