Archives plan search
The archives plan search provides an overview of all the collections and documents held by the Burgerbibliothek Bern. By expanding the levels, you go deeper into the hierarchy of the archives plan, from the divisions through the collections and series down to the levels containing units of description available for order (such as dossiers or individual documents). This search is ideal for browsing and discovering items in the collections. However, it also is very useful in combination with the full text search, in that it allows you to move from an individual search result to its context within the archives plan. In this way, you can discover related units of description that cannot be found using the same search terms.
01 Navigating the archives plan
- In the archives catalogue, select «Archives plan search» on the «Search» menu.
- The collapsed archives plan for the Burgerbibliothek Bern appears.
- Click on the small plus sign to open the next level.
- At the lowest level, you can order units of description.
- By double-clicking, you obtain a detail view of the unit of description.
- To get back to the archives plan from the detail view, click on «Localize in archives plan» in the left-hand menu.
