Image search
You can search the archives catalogue directly for images of events, places, persons and so on that are available online. The images available online may be downloaded free of charge for your own personal use.
01 Searching for images
- Select «Full text search» In the archives catalogue.
- Click on «Display further search options» under the search field.
- Enter one or more terms in the search field.
- Restrict the search to «Images available online».
- If need be, use the filters to further restrict the search.
- Click on «Search».
02 Viewing and selecting images
- The list of results shows all the units of description with images that match the search terms.
- Click on the frame icon to obtain a preview.
- Click on «Switch to image overview» in the left-hand menu in order to obtain a better overview.
- Click on an image to obtain an expanded preview.
- Click on the magnifying glass icon next to the preview to go to the detail view.
03 Downloading and saving images
- In the detail view, click on the preview (with watermark and in lower resolution due to legal restrictions) and save the file to your own computer by right clicking on the image.
- If there is a link to an image file under «Files» in the detail view: open the image in a separate window by clicking on it and save it to your own computer by right clicking on the image (without watermark and in higher resolution).
