Field search

With the field search, you can search for and combine terms in specific fields; this makes searches possible that are more specific than a simple full text search. For example, you can search for images in a specific place over a specific period or, by using a reference, restrict your search to a specific collection.

• Select «Field search» on the «Search» menu in the archives catalogue.
• In the first drop-down menu (default selection: «Title»), select the field to be searched.
• In the adjacent drop-down menu (default selection: «contains»), select the search mode.
• In the adjacent text input field, enter the search terms.
• In the final drop-down menu, select the type of link:
  • AND: results include search terms from fields A AND B.
  • OR: results include search terms from fields A OR B.
  • NOT: results include search terms from field A but exclude terms from field B.
• Restrict your search by entering a time period or selecting type of archival material, images available online and level of description.
• Display options: Method of sorting and number of results.
